This unit has been designed to be compact, uncomplicated and robust. Incorporated into the BFP is the facility of splicing multiple external or internal cables, in fact up to 8 incoming or outgoing plant cables can be accommodated. The individual cable clamping system caters for a wide range of cable sizes and construction. Along with the cable clamps, cable central strength member fixing pillars are also fitted. Fibre tube excess length is managed within cable retention rings which surround the centrally located splice cassettes.

The slice cassettes provide bend radius management of the fibres and include integral splice holders. The cassettes are hinged together for easy splice access. The unit has a single hinged door with lock. A fibre ID/designation label is located on the inside of the door for ease of use.
